Raising puppies is fucking really hard. Two at once is A LOT, too. I found that people don’t really want to admit that online because no one ever wants to feel like ‘a bad parent/pet owner’. No one wants to feel guilty that they sometimes resent the puppies because of how hard they are.

I just wanna say that I see you and keep kicking ass, it gets better!

Nur, I needed to hear this!! It is fucking hard. Separately they are the sweetest, but together, they just fire each other up. The potty training is the worst however, same with not being able to go to the dog park since they are not fully vaccinated yet.

And the interrupted nights 🙈 haha, any tips?

Thank you so much Marie for making these truths crystal clear and leaving away any sugary icing which might hide some of the hard stuff underneath!

You are doing amazing here. Look at you writing such a helpful piece in slots of 10-20 minutes while dealing with the lovely monsters 🐾😈

Thank you for this great piece of information! I'm kinda clueless on anything business/promotion but I agree that some psychological tricks to buy can feel a bit inauthentic. It's nice to see that there are many creators out there who truly tailor their content from their heart, so it resonates with their audience. And like you wrote, being clear and honest allows the content to sell by itself.

Thanks for sharing!!.

I am planning to upgrade to paid. I wanted to start a technical blog. I have minimal experience in writing. just a few months before I began posting threads on Twitter.

So the upgrade helpful for me?

You can go paid without putting something behind the paywall first. So you give your fans the option to support you if they want! And then when you gain more subscribers you can start putting something behind the paywall!

Hi Marie, keep going! Promotion is challenging to say the least. What really resonates with me is when you say, "But I’m 1000% sure that once you’ve got something you feel good about and when it resonates with your readers, keeping it clear and simple will allow it to sell almost by itself."

Clear and simple is best in my humble opinion.

Marie, your honest reflections are always so refreshing, thank you! Having left the digital marketing ashram a few years ago and deciding to only do what works for GLADYS from now on, what you shared is so poignant. As people continue feeling numb to old marketing/sales strategies, new ideas for how we promote our offerings are emerging that will pave the way forward. So know you’re onto something here…and you are likely going to be one of those forces leading the new way.

It is f*cking hard! There's also a f*ckload of seriously disingenuous & sleazy sales advice dressed up as 'sales psychology' - and you can be made to feel your moral stance and values are 'limiting beliefs' that should be broken. Ignore this B.S. - it's perfectly possible to be a moral, reasonable person with a conscience and in business.

I also found that the 'deciding your niche & product' piece takes time and refinement - it's not something you can just decide, unless you're lucky enough to be super-clear from day 1, so it's ok to take the pressure off getting it 'perfect'. Just getting things out there helps you understand yourself and your offer more - but there's definitely plenty of that 'falling flat on your face' thing to be endured 🤦🏼‍♀️ which can feel hard. Self-compassion, trust that it WILL work... and not taking it personally were definitely keys for me.

Rooting for you!
